THE GREATEST GIFT GIVEN
A Christmas Poem
When I reflect on so many gifts given,
To one another down here in acts of love;
There's none so priceless, nor one quite as special,
As God’s Gift sent to us from Heaven above.
This gift was sent to Earth, so vile and sinful,
So terribly wretched and undeserving;
Yet sent just the same with loving affection,
From the Holy Father without reserving.
A Wonderful Gift, so carefully chosen,
To address Earth's sinful creature’s greatest need;
He was wrapped up in love, in grace and in truth,
Yet, how was this heavenly born gift received?
With open outstretched arms and hearts overflowing,
With great joy or joyful appreciation?
No! A stable was offered, a cross provided,
In such rejection and humiliation!
What greater act of love could God offer man,
Than this sacrificial thing which He has done?
For God so loved the world that He gave us,
His truly loved and only begotten Son.
Receive this free gift of everlasting life,
For to everyone it has been given;
Then you’ll become a part of God's family,
And will live eternally in heaven.
