Loyd was blessed to have been born into a large family of 11 siblings; five brothers and six sisters and grew up most of his life in a small farming community in North Carolina.
He was married to his wife Katherine on March 28,1972.
Most of his life was lived in modest and humble surroundings.
A poem he wrote “Wintertime Memories” will give you a good glimpse into a part of his early childhood years. Please, check it out. It is featured on a page entitled "Wintertime Memories."
Loyd enjoys writing simple poetry and songs and prefers to be called "the simple poet". He also sings and plays the guitar. Much of his writing reflects a deep sense of family, religious and southern roots.
Loyd and Kathy have been blessed with four wonderful children who now have families of their own.
Currently, Loyd and Kathy have also been blessed with five beautiful grand children, as you can see...
Loyd is known to have a good sense of humor, in fact one of the stories he tells goes like this: "When I was born, instead of the doctor slapping me on my bottom, he took one look at me and slapped my dad."
As Loyd says, "It's better to have a good sense of humor, than no sense at all!"
Speaking of jokes...
Loyd often takes jokes he has heard and transforms them into poems. One such joke is found on the humor page and titled "A Baby What?"
Loyd tries daily to love God, his wife, children and grandchildren.
He loves life and living and tries to keep a positive outlook that is reflected in much of his writing!
Loyd prefers the mountains above the ocean, and a small country stream to a rushing waterfall, but he loves all of God’s creation. His love for God and country are reflected in his poem "Beautiful America." You may want to read it as well.
A big thank you to one and all,
For taking your precious time;
reading and commenting,
On Loyd's poetry and rhyme.
